| More than 3,000 volunteers of all ages gathered on May 1 to remove tons of trash from the banks of the Los Angeles River. The cleanup project extended from the San Fernando Valley, where the river begins, to its ocean outlet at Long Beach. |

Over 400 people from the area converged near the Los Feliz Blvd bridge on May 1 to participate in the Great Los Angeles River Cleanup, the largest event of its type ever.
Rivercleaners pulled bedsheets, bras, clothes, shopping carts, shoes, hypodermic needles and unidentifiable objects out of the river, to name just a few things.
From river source to mouth, the event was organized and coordinated by Friends of the Los Angeles River, a great organization to support and belong to.
